I’ve spent the last 20 years in the earth sciences, from my time learning at UBC in Vancouver, to co-op work terms in the oilsands and mines, leading to 5 years in the geotechnical consulting world and finally more than a decade in technical sales of geotechnical and environmental instrumentation.
Over this time, I have built up a wide network of relationships, with people working on really interesting projects all over the world. These successes are often shared in technical papers or presentations at conferences but they rarely tell these stories in a captivating, visual format that can be viewed by a wider audience.
This is where An Eye for Geotech comes in. From environmental storytelling to geotechnical engineering videos and geotechnical engineering case studies and everywhere in between.
– Myself in front of a partially finished soil anchored wall in Northern BC that I helped to design and oversaw construction of. This design, at the time, was completely new to the local government department, despite having been used around the world. Beyond the technical design aspects, we had to navigate the political challenges of trying something new to solve a challenge in their region. Learn more about ground anchors.
I work with earth science professionals (geotechnical engineers and environmental scientists, to name a few) to develop a framework for the story they wish to share and then bring that vision to life. I work with their team to interview key members, on camera, to tell the story of the project:
- Describe the project.
- How is it unique?
- What were some successes?
- What were some challenges?
- What did they learn?
- What else does the world need to know?
The client is in control of the content that is shared and can choose to omit confidential components as needed. These interviews are combined with footage of the project (before and after) including videos, photos and site plans to allow the viewer to have a complete understanding of the story.
I know you have some captivating stories to tell – please contact me to discuss how you can get started. Let’s share with the world your accomplishments!
